Turkopticon X

Turkopticon X is an experimental version of Turkopticon for Turkers who could use a little extra stuff.

Installing

First, install the Firefox add-on Greasemonkey. Greasemonkey lets you run "user scripts", programs that run inside your browser that change the way certain websites work. Turkopticon is a user script packaged as its own add-on. Turkopticon X is a little rougher around the edges.

If you're using the Turkopticon add-on, disable it. First, go to the 'Tools' menu in Firefox and click 'Add-ons'. You should see a list of the add-ons you have. Find 'turkopticon' in the list, click on it, and then click the 'Disable' button. (You may need to restart Firefox.)

Once you've installed Greasemonkey and disabled your Turkopticon add-on, click here to install Turkopticon X.

If you just get a big pile of code, click on the 'Tools' menu, go to the 'Greasemonkey' sub-menu, and click 'Install User Script...'.

You should see a little window like this appear:

Click 'Install'. You should now see the new icons when you browse HITs on Mechanical Turk:

Basically, the green arrow means 'good requester', the skull means 'bad requester', and the question mark means we don't know.

More accurately:

If you don't see them, make sure Greasemonkey is enabled. If it is, you should se a little smiling monkey in the lower-right corner of your browser. If you see a gray frowning monkey, click on it and it should wake up and Greasemonkey should turn on. Then refresh the HIT page.

If Greasemonkey is enabled and you still don't see the new icons, or something else is going on, or you have ideas for Turkopticon X, email turkopticonx@differenceengines.com.
